BAX was launched in the last quarter of 2002 mainly to give building occupants easy access to multiple carriers and providers in order to have a choice from the widest possible range of services available. In the first quarter of 2004, BAX was expanded to also include the leasing and management services of core building communication facilities, including the rooftops.
